Downtown Hoedown 2012

This past weekend we went to the annual Downtown Hoedown in Lufkin, Texas and despite living in the area forever we had never went before. I wish we had because the kids had fun and it was a lot of fun to look at everything. There was live music, a car show, vendor booths selling food and different items and activities for the kids.

Here are a few of the things we did while we were there.

First Hal go his hands on a free bag, notepad and pens from a booth ran by the Texas Department of Public Safety. That trooper just does not know how he made Hal’s day with the notepad and new pen. The kid loves to collect them and is always drawing and writing stuff down.

We visited the booth ran by the Angelina County humane Society and Hal tried to convince me to take home another kitten. As adorable as they were I hated to say we couldn’t because of our three demonic angelic cats that we already have.

Also as part of the live music there was an Elvis impersonator, that was a lot of fun.

And after we watched him the kids got their picture taken with them, this is Hal and my nieces with him and a friend of the girls. Wes did not go with us because he has went from 10 going on 16 and slept until noon.

And then right before we left the kids got to check out this big guy. He was an adorable giant turtle of some kind that was for sale for around $500.00. Hal so wished I had had that much money on me to get him or maybe her.

I guess you can’t beat a morning/afternoon seeing big turtles and an Elvis impersonator.

Since this was our first year to attend we will definitely be going back next year as well.
