Please don’t go girl – #TuesdayTunes

When I was 10 years old my music taste revolved around New Kids on the Block. I mean seriously this was before I decided that long hair and tattoos were better than boy bands. And though my music taste has changed over the years I still can enjoy my favorite boy band from my childhood. Especially since my children absolutely do not like the song “Please Don’t Girl” I find that it is best to keep it on my iPhone ready to go in the event I want quiet kids in the car. The threat of playing it full blast works every time.

But other than using the music of NKOTB as a weapon against my sons (Justin Beiber also works) it brings back a lot of fun memories of being a kid a just singing and dancing around. One memory I will never forget was getting to go with my sister and friend to go and see them in concert last summer with the Backstreet Boys. We had so much fun singing all of their songs from memory and it will be a night that we never forget and because we had never saw them in concert when we were younger and way more into them we called it “living one of our childhood dreams.”

What are you childhood musical memories?

  1. Ah, remember it well. I took my older girls to their first concert, another boy band, NSync. Fun times. I like a good boy band, esp. when they dance too.

  2. Wow, talk about memories. I used to love NKOTB. Had the bedsheets, dolls, posters that covered my room, I had it all. Watching this video after all this time is hilarious, I am sitting here lmao, the haircuts, the outfits & how YOUNG they were. Still love the song though 😉

  3. Oh. My. Wow. YES! Oh girl. I love you! My husband just ran from the room screaming that was awesome.

  4. I remember this song very well! My daughter was a NKOTB groupie. I help to buy their houses with all the purchases I made of memorabilia. My husband and I did like them and new all the words. I love that you can use them as a weapon…haha

  5. Thank you so much! You just made my night…I still love NKOTB to this day…I can’t believe how young they look in this video!
