As a writer music is a huge part of my life, I am constantly listening to music and relate it to all parts of my life. When I write books I create playlists that go along with the story that I am working on. It helps my stories flow and while I’m editing I am go back and play the music as I edit. It Playing it back helps me remember what I was feeling when I was writing. Really though like they say, music is the soundtrack to my life. And I can always associate certain songs to memories and things that I went through in the past.
And music can also relate to food and of course your Diet Coke™, I love to eat my desserts but it always helps to have a Diet Coke® handy to balance out the sweetness. I recently visited my local Brookshire’s store to check out the Coca-Cola™ Share A Coke And A Song promotion. While I was there I picked up some drinks for my family and the supplies to make Strawberry Cream Angel Cake inspired by the song ‘Strawberry Fields Forever.’ Honestly who doesn’t like the Beatles, Diet Coke and easy yummy recipes?
I used a homemade Angel Cake recipe for my cake that can be found here and of course you can find my fun twist with my Strawberry Cream Angel Cake that is great with a side of Diet Coke:
- 1 Angel Food Cake Loaf from recipe above
- 2 containers (6 oz each) fat free strawberry creme yogurt
- ½ cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 teaspoons powdered sugar
- Fresh strawberries for topping and center
- Cut cake in half horizontally, separate layers.
- Place bottom cake layer, cut side-up on serving plate.
- Spread yogurt over cut surface and top with thinly sliced strawberries
- Place top cake layer, cut side down, on bottom layer.
- Slice Strawberries to serve on top with whipped topping.
- In medium bowl, beat whipping and powdered sugar with electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form.
- Serve whipped cream with cake.
