Learning different things

As I have mentioned previously online I have been going back to college for a little over a year now. My degree area of concentration is Education and hopefully one day I will be a teacher. I am excited about it and love all of the different things that I am learning. We have even been learning about different mental illnesses and those who even need to seek PCH Treatment for help. This semester one of the classes that I am is an Education class on special populations. I can honestly say that I have learned all kinds of things that I never knew about children with special needs. We have even spent time this semester observing classrooms with special needs children. One of my favorite was a class at an elementary school of autistic little boys. I had never had a much experience with children with autism but these children were so sweet and precious that you couldn’t help but to adore them.

Other things we have done this semester is study different kinds of mental illness. I actually had to give a presentation on class this week on childhood schizophrenia. I learned so much about the symptoms and different treatments and about how families cope and deal with this disease. I was also fascinated by the story of a little girl who is my sons age who suffers from childhood on-set schizophrenia and it was really interesting to watch her.
